Best Free Travel Podcasts

The free Rick Steve’s podcasts have been very useful and informative. He and his co-presenter impart great info about specific sites with a decent amount of background. It’s a take off from his show but with more detailed info. I found myself wanting even more but I would say this is a complement as I thought the info was valuable and interesting. His sense of humor is a bit corny but since the presentation is very good I have enjoyed them and would recommend them.

The free DK Eyewitness Travel podcasts seem to be geared to people with more interest in shopping and less in history. Specifically, the Prague podcast was a waste of memory space and I wouldn’t recommend it. This podcast had very little info about the highlights and barely mentions anything other then what you can find on a tourist map — i.e., “here in the Jewish Ghetto with the Old Spanish Church”. It did say a tiny bit about the history of the Jewish Ghetto but really left almost everything out. A better way to present the info would be to point out specific things about the Spanish Church, and note some significance of the Ghetto. (If someone has tried the paid version please let us know if it was any better).
